Improvements

  • Finding Azurite is now easier:
    • Ore blobs now generate more frequently and now are sometimes exposed to air
    • The particles & sound effects only start playing when you are closer
    • In return, the blobs are a tad smaller
  • Glow Vision Goggles are now only equippable in the 'Face' slot, not the head anymore, so they do not compete with the Circlets
  • Tweaked the config. You are now able to edit all floating point values ingame via the builtin config screen
  • Sugar Canes (vanilla and modded ones) now grow on Slush (the full block, not the tilled one; since that is not a full block the Sugar Cane would render floating)
  • Breaking Ruin now always spawns drops, even if the player creates a Bedrock Portal. Thank you, mikaba-eu!
  • Reduced the amount of required entities near Nightdew Vines to get the max chance for the rare drop from 20->16
  • Dead Bushes are now placeable on DD groundcover blocks
  • Incandescent/Frostbite Essence/Crystals are now cloaked until you discover them
  • Removed the indestructible_blacklisted item tag. You can use tag exclusions in the enchantable tag instead

Spectrum 1.9.0 - Hello World, NeoForge!

Oh boy, this took a while. Welcome to Spectrum on NeoForge! This is not a 1:1 port of Spectrum Fabric, but one with many internal improvements, refactors, fixes and new content! For all of you on Fabric: no worries, I will make sure to port many of the fancy new features to Spectrum 1.21.1, too :) This changelog lists all the changes since Spectrum 1.8.12.

Goodbye Modular Explosives, welcome Arcane Charges!

You might know them, you might not. The two modular explosives were always a bit of a pain to work with - both from a players and a code standpoint. The way they work has been completely redone, now working off of enchantments.

Parametric Mining Device throwable explosive, can also be placed on walls to break blocks in that direction Now comes preenchanted with Power 1

Threat Conflux basically a mine; explodes when something touches it Now comes preenchanted with Sharpness 1

The way they are set up now makes them usable instantly and a lot easier to understand. As you can see, they now come preenchanted, hinting at there being a lot more options with other enchantments, too. Lots of enchantments just work: Fortune and Looting multiply drops, Unbreaking and Indestructible make them not break, Treasure Hunter drops heads, ... you name it. Want to power them up in a quick and dirty way? Just pop them into an Enchanting Table. Or get fancy using Spectrum's Enchanter and pick your poison.

Rock Candy rework

Rock Candies were always super helpful with their short burst, high impact status effects. Sadly the way to get them was not automation friendly and tedious at best.

The way to craft them has been completely revamped and their values tweaked to accomodate for it. Snack away!

Filtering

While the Black Hole Chest always featured filter slots, they were a lot more limited compared to the ones in the Pastel Nodes. With Spectrum 1.9 they now work exactly the same and filtering is a lot more extensive. You can now filter for all ores, that are not Spectrum's and other shenanigans, for example.

Star Candies have been completely reworked and now come not only as 'Star Candy' and 'Enchanted Star Candy', but quite a few more. Can you collect them all? The yellow one for sure, probably the rare blue one, maybe even the epic purple... wait, there are even more?

New Textures

Shoutout to our new team member and kind soul @Bee.

In this version you will find the first textures, namely for the Celestial Pocketwatch, Star Candies and Colorful Bricks.

Config System / Dependencies

Spectrum's config has been moved to the Neoforge config system. You don't need to install Cloth Config anymore. The only required dependencies now are Revelationary, Modonomicon & Curios.

Modularization

Data Loaders for datapacks

  • You can now register colors for items & fluids. This data is used for the particles for items in the Fusion Shrine, Item Bowls & more.
  • datapacks can add new treasure hunter drops (for example if other mods add their own mob heads)

Item Components

  • Biome darkness, fog, tint & the data like colors for the dimension shader can now be modified. You can apply those effects to biomes of other mods, too!
  • Item Gravity is now an item component. That means you can add gravity to any item, for example via commands
  • Damage Immunity is now an item component. That means you can add immunities to any item, for example via commands. That is what protects End Portal Frames & more in item entity form from burning in lava or getting blown up

Improvements:

  • Things that can access items stored in items can now pull stacks out of Bottomless Bundles
  • Erasers won't spawn midair anymore
  • the guidebook can now be placed in lecterns
  • You can now activate / deactivate Bident abilities by sneak-using, instead of right clicking them in the inventory. That is a lot quicker and more intuitive. The change is posted to your action bar
  • The Crystallarieum recipe does not take a bucket of liquid crystal anymore (since it can be logged with any fluid now)
  • Mermaids Popcorn has been buffed from 20 sec of Dolphins grace to 2 mins
  • Concealing Oils can now applied to every food, including drinks. Even if that food already gives that effect
  • Enchantment Canvases now render with Enchantment glint if they hold enchantments
  • Glow Vision Goggle fuel is now data driven (glow ink sacs by default)
  • Lizard Dens now generate more frequently
  • You can now find Pitcher Plants, Torchflowers & lily pads in Crystal Gardens
  • You can now fish Marrow entities in Dragonrot for renewable Dragonbone
  • 100% buff for Ring of Pursuit
  • Made crystal apothecary behave better with mixed budding types (vgskye)
  • a lot more I forgor

Removals

  • the 'severe/incurable' effect for potion reagents has been removed. It required changes all around the Minecraft codebase, from serialization, networking, rendering, curing and more

The Marrow

  • A slow, but sturdy Skeleton variant made from Dragonbone.
  • In addition to their innate Toughness and increased heath, they shoot Potions of Stiffness, making it even harder to strike them down
  • They replace the vanilla Skeletons in Dragonrot Swamps
  • They Drop: Arrows, Stiffness Tipped Arrows & Dragonbone Chunks.
  • Texture by Mr. QuickStrike!

The Splinterspawn

  • A small, observant and shy Silverfish variant
  • They don't attack and rather flee, trying to hide as fast as possible. Actually, even getting them to leave their block will be a bit tricky
  • You will rarely find Splinterspawn infested blocks in the Razor Edge. You ever think you are hallucinating, no, that might only have been a Splinterspawn eyeing you
  • Breaking their block with Silk Touch will make it vanish, you can drop the block including the mob using Resonance, while Pest Control will earn you a nice sum of XP instead

Redstone Sand rework

Redstone Sand has been completely revamped. It has lots of utility now, useful in many redstony scenarios.

  • transfers redstone signals in any direction, including upwards and downwards (with is kind of a pain in vanilla)
  • immediately gives off power to neighboring Redstone, but transferring to other Redstone Sand creates a slowly growing signal
  • Stores energy. Signals drop off slowly after turning off the input
  • Will fall when powered and not supported
  • Retains its energy during the fall, giving a short Redstone Pulse when landing

Improvements

  • Rewrote quite a few guidebook entries
  • When using a Crafting Tablet in a Pedestal, hoppers and other item transport methods now only fill each slot as needed, instead up to 64 items, making autocrafting setups much more quick and efficient
  • You can bonk Item Roundels with the Paintbrush to make it spin the other way around (a godsend, if you enjoy mirrored setups)
  • The Guidebook now has a way of listing Item => Ink conversions. The guidebook now also shows that you can use Dye, in addition to Pigment
  • The Radiance Staff now supports Efficiency. Its floodlight ability places lights a lot quicker
  • Stable Midnight Aberration now notes it's creative exclusive in its tooltip
  • Added the command '/spectrum list_item_tags'. Prints a list of all tags of a given item (or the one in your main hand)
