DataFixerUpper Madness Resolved

Sooo… funny story. I was using DataFixerUpper to import old items — haha hihi — which technically works… but only if you upgrade Minecraft from 1.20.1 → 1.21.1 in the correct order.

The problem? MythsAndLegends 1.7.2 already ran on 1.21.1, and I kept testing everything with old worlds from older MC versions like an absolute clown 🤡💀

Long story short: Yeah… it was my fault. The conversions didn’t run properly because the versions didn’t match. BUT it’s finally fixed now — for real.

The Actual Fix

  • The entire DataFixer pipeline has been adjusted to correctly handle item imports even from worlds that jumped versions incorrectly.
  • Old items now convert as they should, no matter how cursed your world upgrade path was.
  • Updating to 1.8.3 should now be completely safe for everyone.

Final Verdict

Everyone should be good to go with 1.8.3 — no more item issues! :))

Major Compatibility Improvement

  • Fully implemented the DataFixer system If you're updating from any version ≤ 1.7.2, this update is highly recommended. Many items used the old namespace myths_and_legends: and would otherwise disappear.

    With this update:

    • All old items are automatically converted,
    • No items should be lost,
    • Old worlds can now safely be upgraded.

⚠️ Important Disclaimer — PLEASE READ!

Even though the DataFixer has been fully implemented and tested, I strongly recommend making a FULL WORLD BACKUP before loading your world in 1.8.2.

Better safe than sorry — especially when updating worlds with old items.

If you have a world created before version 1.8.0, USE THIS VERSION to ensure a smooth and safe migration.

Critical Fixes

  • Fixed “Invalid Player Data” Join Bug Some players were completely unable to enter their worlds. This has now been fully resolved — everyone should be able to join without issues again.

Datapack Integration Rework

  • Reverted the external datapack decision The built-in datapack is now included inside the mod again. Players who wish to customize spawn behavior can do so by:

    • Disabling the built-in datapack via /datapack disable, or
    • Overwriting it with a standalone datapack (NOT RECOMMENDED — disabling is cleaner).

Configuration System Stability

  • Fixed an issue where changes in the .toml config were not respected The mod kept reverting config values — this is now fixed.

    ⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE I strongly recommend:

    1. Making a backup copy of your config (rename it),
    2. Letting the mod generate a fresh config,
    3. Then copying your settings back in. This avoids weird leftover issues and makes debugging dramatically easier.

Crash Fixes

  • Fixed a crash related to inventory checks No more surprise crashes while the system is scanning player inventories.

MythsAndLegends 1.8.0 BetaWarning: Please do not install this version on pre-existing worlds! The identifier namespace for items has changed from myths_and_legends:clear_bell to mythsandlegends:clear_bell, meaning existing items will cease to exist.

  • Completely reworked the entire command system.
  • Added a prototype system for changing Zygarde forms — unfortunately, it doesn’t work yet.
  • Reworked force spawning.
  • Reworked several settings.
  • Form changes can now be user-defined (but will also come with some predefined options).
  • Loot is now more customizable than ever, making the experience more fun and engaging by default.
  • The conditions added by MAL have also been adjusted.

Generally speaking, I need to write a better changelog when I have time ^^ — for now, I recommend visiting wiki.0skill.de, as I’ve updated it alongside the mod.

Critical Bug Fix (NeoForge Only)

  • Mod Functionality Restored for NeoForge!
    • Due to a small oversight (I don’t test NeoForge that often, if I’m being honest 😅), the mod wasn’t working properly on NeoForge.
    • The issue? Mixin declarations were not set up correctly.
    • This has now been fully fixed—everything should be working as intended again!

Force Spawning should now function correctly as well! 🎉

IMPORTANT: PLEASE USE THIS VERSION IF YOU ARE USING 1.6. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND UPDATING DUE TO A MAJOR BUG IN THE PREVIOUS VERSION (which I will delete or have already deleted).

New Transformations and Form Changes

  • Calyrex now supports "fusion" with Glastrier or Spectrier using the Reins of Unity key item.
    • Right-click Calyrex with the Reins of Unity and ensure you have an empty party slot to fuse or unfuse. (Full tutorial coming soon!)

New Configuration Options

  • You can now Enable/Disable Debug Mode. I got tired of constantly adding and removing debug messages, so I added a config option for it. Use it as you like, but don't complain if the console gets spammed with messages! :D

  • The second option controls the delay (in ticks, where 20 ticks = 1 second) for when forms and aspects are applied after a player joins the server. This is especially useful if the player has fused Pokémon or applied form changes, ensuring they are properly "permanent" as long as the Pokémon is fused or holds the correct item.

Both options are also accessible through the in-game settings GUI for easy adjustment! (Use /mythsandlegends settings)
