Requirements
- Weather2 / Weather, Storms & Tornadoes
- CoroUtil
- NeoForge build targets Minecraft 1.21.1
- Forge build targets Minecraft 1.20.1
Highlights
- Forge 1.20.1 now has the same main feature set as the NeoForge 1.21.1 build.
- Added portable radar support using the same storm/radar snapshot system as the Weather Forecaster.
- Restored the classic Weather2-style Weather Forecaster radar scan mode.
- Weather Forecaster right-click now swaps between classic radar scan and SPC risk outlook.
- Xaero's World Map and minimap storm overlays were improved and fixed for map movement/zooming.
- Tornado labels now use Weather2 stage labels instead of EF labels on map overlays.
- Cyclones and hurricanes are disabled by default and no longer show as tornado icons.
Radar, Forecasting, And Alerts
- Restored classic scan plate radar visuals.
- Added SPC outlook/risk display mode to the Weather Forecaster.
- Added weather icon rendering for storms, tornadoes, rain, and risk products.
- Removed dust devils, gustnadoes, landspouts, and waterspouts from the forecaster tornado display.
- Added larger, anchored EAS-style warning polygons.
- EAS polygons now update only when the storm path changes.
- Added warning/watch/emergency style polygon coloring.
- Added safer forecast, radar, low pressure, and storm-state network sync.
- Added portable radar item and recipe.
Xaero Compatibility
- Fixed tornado icon/map-position drift when moving or zooming Xaero's World Map.
- Added GUI-scale correction for Xaero world map projection.
- Added Xaero minimap/world map overlay rendering for tracked tornadoes.
- Filtered out hurricanes, cyclones, squall lines, dust devils, and other non-tornado hazards from tornado icons.
- Satellite tornadoes now appear separately when valid, but no longer create fake hurricane/cyclone tornado markers.
Tornado Behavior
- Added dynamic real-time tornado wind speeds.
- Tornado wind speeds now evolve with stage, structure, width, environment, morphology, and gust pulses.
- Tornadoes can now weaken even while winds remain high.
- Increased tornado movement speed and steering response.
- Added atmospheric steering/current wobble for less rigid storm motion.
- Reworked tornado damage and pickup logic.
- Added stronger entity/block lifting, flying block impact damage, structure crushing, tree damage, and scouring.
- Added cycloidal ground marks for violent and multi-vortex tornadoes.
- Rebalanced tornado intensity distribution: EF0/EF1 common, EF2/EF3 uncommon, EF4/EF5 rare.
Tornado Morphology
- Added exclusive tornado tag handling so morphology tags do not stack incorrectly.
- Added drill-bit tornado tag with narrow top/bottom shape and fast violent spin.
- Improved elephant trunk top shape.
- Improved sidewinder and curved tornado behavior so bends are smoother and less snappy.
- Added wedge tagging for very wide tornadoes while preserving multi-vortex state when applicable.
- Multi-vortex tornadoes are rarer and can produce more visible suction vortices.
- Multi-vortex parent funnel is hidden/off-ground while suction vortices do the visible ground contact.
- Added horizontal vortices and tuned them to stay small, tapered, and less overgrown.
- Fixed anticyclonic tornado rotation handling.
Satellite Tornadoes
- Satellite tornadoes are rarer.
- Only one satellite tornado can appear at a time.
- Satellite tornadoes use cloud-style tornado particles instead of vanilla-looking particles.
- Improved orbit smoothing so they do not teleport or freeze as easily.
- Satellite tornadoes now behave more like small independent tornadoes in the parent storm environment.
Non-Tornadic Vortices
- Added/updated dust devil, gustnado, landspout, and waterspout systems.
- Dust devils and gustnadoes now use dust/cloud particle visuals and fade out instead of freezing.
- Gustnado pickup and damage behavior was improved.
- Waterspouts and landspouts use TornadoFunnelSimple-style visuals.
- Waterspout/landspout spinning and jitter issues were reduced.
Storm Systems
- Added supercell structure logic including wall cloud, mesocyclone, hook/radar structure, RFD/FFD-style features, and rain wrapping.
- Reduced visual inflow clutter around tornadoes.
- Added squall-line style storm behavior with shelf-cloud/rain/wind presentation.
- Added low pressure, warm front, and cold front systems with curved weather-map style visuals.
- Improved volumetric downfall/rain-wrapping visuals using the Weather2/CoroUtil-style downfall texture approach.
- HP storms can retain rain wrapping; LP storms avoid heavy rain wrapping.
Commands And Content
- Added
/ewdcommand support for addon weather spawning. - Added recipes/models for portable radar and related weather/radar content.
- Added new config options for dynamic wind speeds, morphology rarity, multi-vortex behavior, satellite tornadoes, SPC outlooks, alerts, and weather systems.
Fixes
- Fixed map overlay tornado icon syncing during Xaero zoom/movement.
- Fixed hurricanes/cyclones showing as tornadoes on overlays.
- Fixed EF-scale map text where stage labels were expected.
- Fixed several pause/render cleanup issues for custom vortex particles.
- Fixed several networking edge cases around forecast/radar payload sync.
- Fixed multiple morphology conflict cases where tornado tags could stack incorrectly.
